SEO or search engine optimization is the process of giving websites a higher ranking within the search engine. There are a lot of different search engines with Google, Bing and Yahoo being the main ones. While some people use others that you really want to rank on Google. Statistics show that over 65% of people use Google as their primary search engine so ranking there will give you the most traffic.

It is also important to note that different search engines have their own ranking factors, this essentially means that ranking well on one search engine does not mean that you will rank on others. These search engines use various factors to rank a website so it is important that you take into consideration many search engine ranking factors as part of any SEO strategy

What is an algorithm?

Algorithms are the science of how search engines rank your website, Google uses more than 200 different variables for how they rank a website. Each variable is weighted and SEO websites will fit these requirements, although Google routinely changes its algorithm to ensure that those who try to use software to do SEO and automate Cannot exploit the system formally.

Don't get me wrong there will always be smart people who make devices that can cheat the system and yes these can work for a while, however, Google will eventually punish you and all your rankings may come down. Search engine optimization only works when done manually and naturally by professional SEO with experience and reliable resources.

One of the problems of many people is being led down the wrong path. You will see that there are loads of different people telling you how SEO works and the reality is that SEO is not a set way of working. On top of that, there are loads of ways that SEO doesn't work, but there's plenty of content that tells you it does. A white hat SEO does all the SEO work manually and uses only ethical strategy, it will result in good ranking and there is no potential threat or penalty. Those of you who know me know that I do not 100% believe that this is the best strategy to use. I am no longer against white hat processes, my concern is for businesses and niches that do not have the budget for large-scale advertising campaigns or who have enticing pieces of content to write. This is where other techniques may have to be implemented in SEO campaigns.

BLACK HAT SEO:

This is a strategy used by SEO where they use software to perform tasks such as link building and directory submission. Other black hat tactics are doorway pages, hidden text, keyword stuffing and link rings, etc. Doorway pages are simply buying a domain name that links to your main website, for example you can sell cars and your main website is www.cars.com. You can buy other domains like www.cheapcars.com and have a single page website linking back to www.cars.com, this strategy is now floated by Google.

Hidden text is another tactic that used to work years ago, people used to add white text to a website with a white background and repeatedly mention keywords that would not be visible to the human eye. Having the keyword o n your page is an important ranking factor that has been abused by people over the years so if you decide to use hidden text you can possibly get your website into trouble.

One popular topic that you may have heard me discussing is PBN (personal blog network). This is a large list of sites under your control that you can link to any website you like. I will not go into great detail about this right now, but it is something that a lot of SEO will help to rank a website.

GRAY HAT SEO:

Gray hat SEO is just a mixture of white hat and black hat techniques. As I mentioned earlier that there is not a set way to rank a website, some niches require more work than others, some will not require any black hat methods to rank well And other people can rely on it too much. Gray hat is an SEO strategy that implements any technique that is necessary and if done correctly can eventually make your website rank higher on the search engines.
